2024-5 Renovation & Restyle

Living, Dining, Kitchen, Study Nook, Master Bedroom & Alfresco

For this beautiful waterfront home in Shelley, our brief was simple yet inspiring – create a space that feels sophisticated, understated, and effortlessly welcoming. We transformed the top storey with a complete kitchen, dining, and living remodel, refreshed the master bedroom and repurposed the open study, and gave the alfresco a stylish update. The result? A light-filled, elegant, and feminine home our lovely client is proud to call home.

The Brief:

After

Observations:

  1. The spatial layout didn’t quite flow, making movement between the alfresco and interior a little restricted.

  2. Beautiful highlight windows brought in plenty of light but made it tricky to create a darker, more restful sleeping environment.

  3. The lighting plan relied heavily on an excessive number of recessed lights, with limited ambient and feature lighting to create mood and depth.

  4. A mix of different interior styles meant the spaces lacked a clear, cohesive direction.

  5. The predominantly dark colour palette, gave the home a dated feel.

  6. The striking marble fireplace, though a standout feature, felt a little out of proportion to the room.

Our Solutions:

  1. We embraced the home’s existing features and enhanced them to support a relaxed, yet sophisticated vibe, creating a natural flow between indoors and out.

  2. We introduced neutral, tailored window treatments that complemented our carefully curated palette of blues, tan, and mustard - giving the room both light control and style.

  3. We repurposed the study into an elegant and functional makeup space - a private, practical, and beautiful area that our client loves to use.

  4. We filled in the highlight window in the main bedroom to create a more enveloping , cosy vibe without compromising on natural light.

  5. We introduced lighter-toned timbers, with brushed gold detailing, instantly lifting the mood and making the spaces feel luxurious, fresh and open.

  6. We introduced timeless wallpaper features, adding character, colour, and a subtle softness to the home.

  7. We selected elegant, modern furniture and décor that’s as comfortable to live with as it is beautiful to look at.
