Shakespeare Street Project
2025 Revive & Restyle
Entrance, Hallway, Master Bedroom, Music Room, Living, Dining, & Alfresco
To bring to life a newly built home through a clear and cohesive design intent, tailored to suit the clients and their lifestyle. Inspired by a contemporary, mid-century, loft-style interior aesthetic, the project balanced refreshed furnishings with carefully integrated existing pieces to create a layered and personal interior. Consideration was also given to creating a functional family home for life with a small child, with an emphasis on minimising clutter while retaining the existing in-built wall fireplace within the space. The result is a warm, expressive home filled with considered architectural moments, playful detailing, and curated design elements that reflect the clients’ personalities and make the space feel uniquely their own.
The Brief:
After
Observations:
The home had a strong foundational palette, with beautiful timber flooring and neutral tones, providing an excellent base to build warmth, character, and personality.
Generous natural light enhanced the interiors, with opportunity to introduce more layered and feature lighting to support ambience and functionality throughout the day.
The clients had thoughtfully collected artworks over time, presenting a great opportunity to develop a cohesive hanging strategy and curated display approach.
Large blank wall surfaces provided a strong canvas for introducing artwork, texture, and architectural moments.
Some furniture pieces did not fully align with the home’s architectural language or material palette, creating scope for more harmonious selections.
The entry lacked warmth and definition, with minimal soft furnishings and darker tones resulting in a less inviting arrival experience.
The alfresco area presented an exciting opportunity to be fully realised, with potential for outdoor dining connected to the living space and a relaxed reading nook beyond.
Our Solutions:
Artwork was thoughtfully integrated throughout the home, enhancing the clients’ personality and love of colour, supported by a considered hanging and placement strategy.
A key feature artwork with primary tones became the foundation for the home’s overall colour direction, guiding cohesion and reinforcing a unified design language across the spaces.
New rugs, decor, and a refreshed music room - including an accent chair, lamp, and electric sofa bed - transformed the space into a flexible room for relaxation and guests.
Layered rugs were introduced to soften the interiors, adding warmth while bringing in playful pattern, movement, and colour variation.
The main living room was enhanced with textured wallpaper and wall sconces, adding depth, softness, and architectural interest to the primary wall.
A new lighting scheme elevated the home, shifting from functional lighting to more atmospheric and sculptural moments. Feature pendants in the entry and dining area create focal points that connect back to the home’s central artwork and organic forms.
The alfresco area was fully realised with sculptural pendant lighting, a travertine dining table, and rope-woven chairs for a resort-style feel, alongside lounge seating for a relaxed reading nook and new wall sconces for evening use.
